* Abstract:
This talk presents the LLAMA middleware project for dependable SOA monitoring, run-time diagnosis, and re-configuration. At the core of LLAMA is the accountability service bus (ASB), which collects service and system data, and allows process routing control. Instances of monitoring agents are deployed by service users or providers wishing to be accountable of their service's correctness and performance.
These agents in turn allow LLAMA's Accountability Authority to identify the error source of process failures and apply any necessary reconfiguration operations. The result is an SOA middleware architecture that provides 1) efficiency by collecting and monitoring service execution data from only a key subset of services; 2) flexibility by allowing many advanced diagnosis models and algorithms developed by others to be incorporate into the framework; and 3) transparency by providing the ESB extensions to collect service pro ling data to make process problems transparent to diagnose.

Kwei-Jay Lin is Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of California, Irvine, USA, and Adjunct Professors at the National Tsinghua University, Taiwan, Curtin Institute of Technology, Australia, Fudan University, China, and Freiburg University, Germany. He was a Chair Research Fellow at the Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica, in Taiwan during 2007-2008. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Springer journal on Service-Oriented Computing and Applications, and Editor-in-Chief of the Software Publication Track, Journal of Information Science and Engineering. He was Associate Editors of the IEEE Trans. on Parallel and Distributed Systems and the IEEE Trans. on Computers. He is a co-chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on E-Commerce. He is the external examiner of the M.S. in Electronic Commerce and Internet Computing at the Hong Kong University. He has served on the committees of many international conferences, most recently as conference chairs of CEC 2009 and SOCA 2009, program chair of ICSOC 2007, program vice-chair of ICPP 2009 and 2010. His research interests include service-oriented systems, e-commerce technology, real-time systems, scheduling theory, distributed systems, and operating systems.
